2017 NSW Local Government Elections

Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council

The Queanbeyan-Palerang Community Voice team is a group of candidates contesting the 2017 Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council election.

Pete Harrison, Mayor of the former Palerang Council, is joined by fellow former Palerang councillors Keith France and Belinda Hogarth-Boyd. Larry King, Kathy Handel, David Shellard and John van der Straaten round out the team.

The candidates on the Queanbeyan-Palerang Community Voice ticket all share the same commitment to communication and community engagement that has characterised Pete, Keith and Belinda's time on Council. They come from a range of backgrounds, Pete's in science and technology, Keith’s in accounting, and Larry’s in corporate management. Belinda is employed in human resources, Kathy had a career in the IT industry and David is completing postgraduate studies in mathematics at the ANU. In his retirement, John breeds alpacas. The common thread is that they are all deeply involved with their respective communities.

During their time on Council, the team has made a concerted effort to communicate openly with, and represent the interests of communities throughout the Queanbeyan-Palerang region. Community workshops and surveys of residents have all brought our Council closer to the communities it serves. The Queanbeyan-Palerang Community Voice team is committed to ensuring that this momentum is not lost under the new, merged organisation.
